Dilla, Rest in Peace

I don't even know what to say. I'm sitting down, about to prep for Saturday school tomorrow, but I first dip into OKP.com to see what's what. You know there's always some new news, commentary, a download, something. I was not expecting this. But really, I can't even say that. Because I think, deep down, I was. We all were. We saw the pictures. Heard the news from ?uestlove. This was real. What made me realize it even more was when I heard dude was going on stage in Europe in his wheel chair. It's like, "yo, I don't know when I'm gonna be able to do this again, so put me on." Maybe he didn't say that to his homies, or maybe he did. Maybe not in words. But I think they knew. And then came Donuts. When I heard it, I said to my homey that this album followed no script; that Dilla did what he wanted to do, as if... as if he knew.

PSA b/w Super Bowl

Attention white people (and the one Black dude I saw 2 weeks ago who was in clear violation). This month is called February. Your cargo shorts should have BEEN packed away in storage months ago. You should NOT... I repeat, NOT, be wearing them. This is Philadelphia. It's 40 degrees out, on a good day. I don't get it.

(Why am I writing this? Because today I saw 3 people wearing shorts as if it was okay. It's NOT okay. If you're jogging, it's not really okay, but you have a slight excuse. If you're going to the gym, it's not okay. It only takes a few seconds to take off some sweat pants when you get there. Cargo shorts? There is no reason for cargo shorts after October. Cargo shorts are not winterized (yes they are thicker than normal shorts, but they are still shorts). And please, kill the flip flops too (saw 2 people w/ these today). Maybe this is just a Penn thing, and if so, I apologize to the rest of you. But I have a feeling this is a wider-spread issue. It must stop).

---------

For some reason I thought the Super Bowl started at 8 yesterday, so when I turned it on and saw the Rolling Stones doing their thing (after wondering w/ my wife as to whether they still have groupies, we decided that there are at least 2 55-year old chicks out there in leather pants w/ the lips tatooed on their gravity-challenged breasts, chasing the tour bus around the country), I was a little upset. But then I saw the score - 7-3 - and realized that we hadn't missed much.

Not too much to say about the game overall. I'm glad the Steelers won b/c no one would really have cared if Seattle had won. That push off by the Seattle receiver in the end zone was suspect though. And I'm not sure if Ben broke the plain, replay or not. But it is what it is, the closest thing to an Eagles Super Bowl victory that the world will ever know.

Gotta go clean Play-Doh out of my carpet. Good night.
